About the Teacher

Hello, students!

Here's some information about me, your math teacher for this year. Laughing

My name is Ms. Meaghan Simms, and I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. I have a younger brother, who is currently a sophomore in college. During my childhood and into middle school, I played various organized sports. Besides sports, academics were important to me. My favorite subjects in school were history and mathematics. My mother was an English teacher, so school has always been a part of my life.

In high school, I got involved in more academic clubs and organizations. I graduated high school from Indian Rocks Christian School in 2006. I finished my 2-year Associate's in Arts Degree from St. Petersburg College before heading to Lakeland to attend Southeastern University. I majored in Secondary Mathematics Education with a minor in History. I graduated in May 2010 with honors. I am certified in Mathematics grades 6-12. My internship was actually completed at Lakeland High School, where I taught Algebra IB and Informal Geometry.

I'm thoroughly excited for my first year of teaching and hope you all have a very successful school year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Simms
